California Department of Developmental Services (DDS)
“Early Start” is the name of California’s early intervention program. This site is a central source of information for service coordinators, healthcare providers, early intervention specialists, therapists and parents about early intervention and support services for young children from birth to 3 years of age and their families. Information includes explanations of eligibility for Early Start services, typical and atypical development, services available, a host of free-of-charge materials, and links to a range of related sites.

California Department of Education/Special Education Division
The California Department of Education/Special Education Division offers users information and resources to serve the unique needs of persons with disabilities. The site offers Common Core State Standards resources for special education; searchable databases and software for reporting and retrieving special education-related information; federal and state legislation, laws, regulations, and policies; and a variety of programs, services and links to current and upcoming events.

First 5 California
First 5 California is dedicated to improving the lives of California’s young children and their families through a comprehensive system of education, health services, childcare, and other crucial programs. The site offers free access to various publications, annual reports, and public outreach videos.

Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part C
This site is a central resource for information related to Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), which governs how states and public agencies provide early intervention, special education and related services to children with disabilities. Users will find searchable versions of IDEA, access to cross-referenced content from other laws (such as the Head Start Act and the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act), webinars on selected topics, non-regulatory guidance, links to OSEP’s Technical Assistance and Dissemination Network, a Question & Answer Corner where users can submit questions, and a variety of other information sources.

National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities
The National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities offers an array of free resource material to users, including videos, podcasts, pamphlets, brochures, and a searchable publication archive.

National Institute of Child Health and Human Development
The National Institute conducts and supports cutting-edge research on the health of children, adults, families, and populations. The site offers a variety of resources for parents, researchers, educators, and health care providers, including research materials and publications, training and career development opportunities, and links to upcoming events and conferences.
